Community Services & Workforce Development provides assistance to low-income residents of San Benito County.
All services are provided dependent upon funding availability. For more information on any of these services

No appointment necessary. Payment of utility bills for eligible Participants to prevent service shutoff
by utility companies. (Assistance once a year)
Regular Bills & 15-day Notices are accepted Monday-Thursdays
from 8am - 12 pm ONLY.
48-hour & Shut-Offs are accepted Monday-Friday from 1-4pm ONLY
Required Documentation:
- Proof of citizenship (birth certificate, passport, Naturalization or MICA)
- 30-day income verification for all members of your household.
- Photo I.D. for all adults in the household.
- Social Security Cards for all children and adults in the household.
- Current Utility Bill or Shut-Off notice.
By Appointment Only. Documentation Needed At Time of Appointment To
Determine Eligibility:
- 90-day income verification for all members of your household.
- Photo I.D. for all adults in the household.
- Birth certificates and Social Security Cards for all children and adults
in the household. (Seniors 60+ are eligible)
- Letter of eviction notices, indicating the month of the past due rent.
(Maximum payout $1,000.00).
- Receipt of other past due rent, if it is more than one month rent, or a
letter of arrangement from the tenant and the landlord.
- If landlord and tenant have the same address, verification from the
Assessors Office is needed.
- Reason for requesting assistance.
- W-9 Form signed by landlord. (provided at the time of appointment)
By Appointment Only. Documentation Needed At Time of Appointment To
Determine Eligibility:
- 90-Day Income Verification for All Family Members: Income sources include
- Employment check stubs, UIB stubs, AFDC, SSI/SSA, Disability Insurance,
Workman's Comp., Child Support, Alimony, Educational Grants, Etc.
- Proof of Residency: Participants must provide a letter or a bill (i.e. PG&E,
water) from San Benito County, which they received/paid within the last 90
days prior to their appointment date.
- Verification of Family Members: Adult proof includes: Drivers License, ID
Cards, Birth Certificates. Families must have minor children under the age of
16 living with them. Child proof includes: Birth certificate, Social Security
Cards, Micas, Etc.
- Rental Contract: Participant must provide a Rental Contract signed by the
Tenant and the Landlord. Contracts must state the month you are moving in and
the amount of the rent.
- Landlord: Participant must provide the Name, Address, & Phone Number of
the Landlord. (Landlord must be informed that the Rental Assistance process
may take up to 2 weeks).
- Receipt: If the rent exceeds more than $1000.00, the Participant must pay
and provide a receipt for the differences of the rent and the Security Deposit
as required, or provide a letter of suitable arrangements from the Landlord.
- Verification of Job Promise: If the participant is not currently working,
but will start in the near future, verification from the employer must be
presented stating the job start-up date and rate of pay.
- Statement: Reason for requesting assistance.
CSWD provides Referrals to the Community Food Bank 2 times per year. Documentation Needed: Photo ID only.

Pick up food on the following days:
- Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Weekly Food Distribution)
- Saturday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Weekly Food Distribution)
- Community Food Bank distribution centers are as follows:
- San Juan Bautista 2-3 PM at the
Community Center – Corner of 1st St & San Jose St.
- Aromas 2-3 PM at a small garage
across the street from Marshall Grocery store.
- Second Monday of the Month: USDA
Commodities distribution: 1133 San Felipe Road – 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- Fishes & Loaves: CSWD provides referrals (up to 4 a year) before 11
am Monday – Friday.

Medi-Cal, Food Stamps, employment, housing, Social Security benefits. We do not provide legal
assistance or help in filling out legal/immigration forms.
