Job Search Workshops, offered at the One-Stop Career Center teach techniques that help people find their own jobs. There are many persons who may have the qualifications to hold a job but have not been able to find steady employment. Purpose of Workshops The purpose of the Job Search Workshop is to assist persons who do not know how or where to look for jobs and who do not know how to present their qualifications effectively to employers. The workshops help applicants to learn about the local job market and the various sources of job leads. job seekers learn how to analyze and resolve their own particular unemployment problems. Special Needs Workshops are conducted to meet the needs of the average job seeker as well as for those applicants with special problems. These groups include older workers, veterans, ex-offenders, youth, displaced workers, persons with disabilities, and those who do not speak English. At this time, a limited number of workshops are being conducted in Spanish, Chinese, and Tagalog. Many Locations Workshops are held in a variety of locations as well as at local Job Service offices, schools, facilities of nonprofit organizations, and other public agencies. The scope of the program in each field office is determined by the size of the community, the needs of the job seekers, and the resources of the office. |
